Kyra Westwind
I am the great-granddaughter of a talented fiber artist who offered me my introduction to working textiles.
I feel my connection to her, and all the many Celtic wool witches who came before her, in my hands when I work.
Each piece begins as raw wool, ethically sheared from sheep who spend their days frolicking in green pastures, under the watchful eyes of a shepherd dog and a shepherdess.
The wool is passed from one woman’s hands to another, from shepherdess to artist, transforming into works of art. Each is named for an obscure word with deep meaning.
My art practice is as much spiritual as it is creative, and I find it profoundly satisfying to dedicate my time and energy to making sacred art you can wear and use on your spiritual journey.
